I purchased the chair from ARC Herkimer for $30. I thought it was still in good shape structurally and the fabric and foam would all be replaced anyway. When purchasing second-hand I tend to err on the side of caution. Even if the seller is a known entity they might be financially motivated to lie about the “smoke-free, pet-free” storage of the items, and when it comes to textile items I don't want to risk allergic-type or bug issues. That said, I also considered bugs and allergens to be low risk with this chair.
For months the chair was used as is. I didn't have the fabric, space, or time to start working on it. In September, the opportunity to start arose, and I started methodically photo documenting every step. I took step-by-step photos of how to pull staples, what order to remove the fabric, and where the tricky parts are near feet and under arms. Dozens of pictures and few videos later I reached a stand-still because my primary role is mom. Momming took my attention for a while, so I went to back up my photos and videos onto a usb drive to use in this blog post. During transfer every single photo was corrupted. Hours of documentation lost. My heart sunk. I am just now putting together this blog post and accepting that it will not be the step-by-step instructions and information that I had planned.
It is now November. I'm going to finish the chair this month. I will post some before and after pictures and a few videos that were not lost.
